The Mehat Pur police have arrested a travel agent for cheating and trafficking persons.
Investigating Officer (IO) Jaspal Singh said the accused has been identified as Budh Dass, son of Shingara Singh, a resident of Bajigar Dera under Salem Taabri police station, Ludhiana.
Sukhdev Raj a resident of Sangowl village, had complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that he had paid Rs 4.91Lakhs to the accused for facilitating his children’s migration abroad. However, he neither sent his children abroad nor returned the money.
IO said a case under Sections 406 (breach of trust) and 420 (cheating), and 370(trafficking of persons) of the
Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against the accused and his wife.
