JALANDHAR
Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat strongly condemned the new decision of the Central BJP Government, saying that an attempt is being made to snatch away food from the mouths of millions of poor families in Punjab. By issuing a Tughlaqi order to remove 10 lakh ration card holders from the list, the BJP Government has proved that instead of working for the welfare of the poor, it is running only on the policy of political vendetta.
Mohinder Bhagat said that this decision is not only disastrous for the poor but also against social justice and human rights. Families whose survival depends on government ration are being left to starve, and such a policy can never be a part of good governance. He said that Punjabi farmers have always made sacrifices to feed the nation, but today the Central Government is bent upon snatching away even the ration that feeds their own families. Mohinder Bhagat alleged that the BJP Government has always adopted a discriminatory policy against Punjab – sometimes against farmers, sometimes against industries, and now against the poor. This reflects nothing but a mindset to deprive Punjabis of their rightful share. He made it clear that the Mann Government and the Aam Aadmi Party will fight on every platform to protect the rights of the poor. If this oppressive order is not withdrawn, the voice of the poor will be raised from the streets to the Parliament. Mohinder Bhagat warned the BJP Government that no loot on the bread of Punjab’s poor will be tolerated. The Central Government must immediately withdraw this decision and restore the rights of the poor.
