Panch among six booked for stopping development work

 

NAKODAR

The Nakodar Sadar police have booked six villagers, including a member panchayat (Panch), on the charge of stopping development work in the village.Investigating officer (IO) Gurnam Singh said that the accused have been identified as Rannjit Singh, son of Mangi member panchayat of Gill village, Papu son of Mannu a resident of the same village,his brothers Kaka, Lov, and Khapat, and Parminder Singh, son of Tara Singh of the same village.Daljit Kaur, sarpanch of Gill village, complained to the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), block development and panchayat officer (BDPO) that the accused stopped the solid waste management development work in the village, and abused the panchayat, assaulted labourers on work, and stole bricks and sand from the spot.  

 

IO said a case under sections 132(assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of hduty),221(obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions ), 303(theft) of the BNS has been registered against the accused.
