JALANDHAR

In a unique initiative to familiarize school students with the functioning of government departments, the district administration on Friday organized a ‘Chetna Educational Tour’ under which 150 students from six government schools were taken to visit various government offices. Before the tour, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal addressed the students at the District Administrative Complex and urged them to gain maximum knowledge about the functioning and services of different departments through this educational tour. He said that this would help them in the future, whenever they or their family members visit any government office, as they will already be aware of the procedures and can get their work done smoothly without hurdles. Dr. Aggarwal asked the students to share their experiences of the educational tour with their classmates and parents and also give feedback to the administration. He said the suggestions given by students would be incorporated to make the educational tour more useful for school children and to further improve departmental functioning. Reiterating the Punjab Government’s commitment to provide constructive opportunities to youth, the DC said this initiative, which offers students learning beyond books and outside classrooms, will continue in the coming days. He informed that on Friday, 150 students from six different government schools were taken in batches of 25 each to offices including the DC Office, SDM Office Jalandhar-1, RTO Office, Employment Department, Court Complex, SBI Bank, CP Office, SSP Office, Sewa Kendra, Sub Registrar Office, among others, where they were briefed in detail about the functioning and services of these offices. The DC further informed that in the coming days, students above 14 years of age will also be given training in life-saving skills under the ‘Chetna’ project, so that precious lives can be saved.
