Jalandhar: In another major seizure of drug haul, the Counter-Intelligence Wing has busted an inter-state drug smuggling racket and recovered 3.5 quintal poppy husk hidden under onion bags in a truck in Phillaur.

Pushap Bali, SHO, PS Lambra along with police party arrested 06 notorious members of Sukha Kahlwan gang, who were specialized in committing snatching at gunpoint, bank dacoities and planning to loot A.T.M. and recovered 02 Pistol 7.65 Bore, 02 country-made pistol 315 Bore along with 02 live cartridges, 01 Ertiga Car, 250 gm intoxicant powder and 02 Datar from them.

Sarpanch of Bainapur will be elected after corrigendum

Nurmahal: Jalandhar additional deputy commissioner(ADC) Jatindar Jorwal said on Thursday that administration has written to chief electoral officer Punjab Election Commission to issue corrigendum in respect of the sarpanch seat of Baina Pur village which was reserved for SC women.

Panchayats waiting grants for over five years

Nurmahal: The Punjab government has failed to fulfil its promise to release Rs 3 lakh grants to 14 panchayats of Nurmahal block for their unanimous election. Of the 70 panchayats in the block, 14 were elected unanimously in 2013. Nurmahal BDPO Rajwindar Singh said he had received no communication regarding the release of money.

Nakodar: World production of natural gas was 2879.237 million tonnes during 2010. It has increased by 3.06% to 2967.336 million tonnes during 2011 over 2010. We have observed annual growth of 0.56% in world production of natural gas to 3212.913 million tonnes during 2016 versus 3195.018 million tonnes during 2015. Europe & Eurasia region had the highest percentage share of 28.02% production of natural gas out of the total world production of natural gas during 2016, followed by North America, Middle East, Asia Pacific, Africa and S. & Cent. America. The percentage share of production of natural gas in North America, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, Africa and S. & Cent. America regions were 27.08%, 17.87%, 16.24%, 5.84% and 4.96% respectively during 2016,said a report posted on website data.gov.in.

Twelve years on, Nurmahal police station building not complete

Nurmahal: In the year 2006 police station Nurmahal was in a private building. People of the town took initiative and donated six kanals 18 marlas land belonging to Patti of the town and spent Rs. 25.00 lakh for the construction of the building for police station Nurmahal. However, government authorities took no further action to complete the building. The 6 kanals and 14 marlas land stand mutated in the name of common owners.
