Nurmahal suicides; Police yet to begin re-investigation

Nurmahal: More than nineteenth months after the Phillaur judicial magistrate (first-class) ordered a reinvestigation into suicide by a Nurmahal family and dismissed the closure report the Nurmahal police has appointed an investigating officer to hold a fresh probe. Station house officer Surjit Singh said that copy of the court order and the case file has been handed over to assistant sub-inspector Sarabjit Singh for further investigation.  He said that  Sarabjit Singh has gone for two months of training and yet to start re-investigation.

Place of Occurrence-wise Property Stolen Cases Reported and its Value during 2016

 Nakodar: During 2016, the total number of property stolen cases reported in India was 641851 with the property value of Rs. 7753 crores. In terms of Place of Occurrence; Residential Premises has the maximum number of property stolen cases reported i.e., 220854 (34.41%) during 2016, followed by Other Places, Highways/Road, Commercial Establishments, Running Trains, Religious Places, Bank, ATM, and River and Sea. The stolen property value at Residential Premises was Rs. 1475 crores during 2016, said a report by Nation Crime Record Bureau, which has been posted on website,data.gov.in.

Two women among three drug peddlers arrested under NDPS Act

Shahkot: The Shahkot police have arrested two drug peddlers including a woman on the charge of selling poppy husk and intoxicant tablets. Station house officer (SHO) Davinder   Singh said that 3 kilograms poppy husk and 100 intoxicant tablets were recovered from the possession of the accused identified as Banso wife of Sarbann a resident of Riabwal village and Manpreet Singh alias Bitta a resident of Mohalla Baghwala Shahkot. SHO said that cases under sections15//22/61/85 of the NDPS Act have been registered against the accused.
