NAKODAR

The Nakodar market committee had shifted the vegetable market to new grain after it was it was de-notified two years ago.

But vegetable commission agents and sellers continue to encroach municipal road. Residents complained that it had become a nuisance as shopkeepers’ dumped garbage in front of the main post office apart from hindering traffic. They said that the increasing stink from the garbage was troubling hundreds of commuters, who used this stretch to go to the post office.

Residents claimed that the issue of encroachment had been brought to the notice of the executive officer of the municipal committee and the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), but to no avail.

NC sources said that civic body is under intense political pressure not to take any action to remove encroachments as two councilors are among them.

Residents demanded that  Nagar council should take a decision to remove encroachments from the road.
