Shahkot village resident arrested for raping minor

SHAHKOT: The Shahkot police have arrested a villager on the charge of raping a minor.

The investigating officer(IO) Amandeep Mahli said that the accused has been identified as Jagroop Singh son of Indarjit Singh a resident of Mullewal Arayian village.

The victim complained to the police that the accused induced her on June 3 night and took her to his house where she was forcibly raped. She said in her complaint that the accused by brandishing a pistol threatened to kill her and her family.

IO said a case under sections 376(rape) and 506(criminal intimidation ) of the Indian Penal Code and section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act -2012 has been registered against the accused.
