Summer Camp with special focus on honing up English language skills

NAWANSHAHR: Dr. Harcharan Singh Govt. Senior Secondary School, Urapar, a rural school situated on Nawanshahr- Phillaur road in SBS Nagar district has organised a " Summer Camp" with special focus on honing up English language skills. The English teacher Amandeep Kaur Bhatti with the active cooperation from school clerk, Amandeep Kaur and  S.St. teacher Jasvir Kaur planned different activities with the motive to make each student an active player in the learning process. An environment was created in which there were opportunities for the students to join in activities, which were were conducted to remove hurdles to make the learning of English language skills a joyful experience. 

"The fun activities have been designed for prompting students to use language cognitively and helped the students to learn the concepts of English grammer in an easy, interesting and effective way without any anxiety associated with the learning of foreign language," said Amandeep Bhatti while adding that as many as 18  activities - Board race, .Call My Bluff / two truths and a. Lie, The Mime. Word Jumble Race, Hangman, On a white bus, Hot seat., Where shall I go? (prepositions) , What's my problem? ,.Guess a Gesture, Fishing for English, Circle Game, Elaborate Sentence, .Jazz Chants, Rangoli making on Grammar Topics, Chart Making.Role play and Action words.
 

"All these activities were based on Grammar topics and covered all Parts of Speech and tenses. This  Fun Way method of learning the English language has proved very much helpful in involving each and every student ", further said Amandeep Bhatti while adding that the students had participated in the Learning based Fun activities with enthusiasm and it helped them to develop LSRW ( Listening, speaking, reading, writing) skills.  

 

 

 Priyanka Lochan, Karanjeev, Priya and other students of Class 10th, who have participated in the camp, while sharing their experiences, appreciated the Fun Activities designed during summer camp for learning English. These activities have made us familiar with basics of English Grammar, they added. 

"It is worthwhile to mention here that the school teachers Amandeep Bhatti, Jasvir Kaur and school clerk, Amandeep Kaur has also volunteered  " Summer Camp" for developing the English language during summer vacation last year. The School Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar has lauded the good work being done by them by awarding  them  with "Appreciation Letters", said the school principal, Paramjit Kaur while adding that the " Appreciation Letters" were awarded to them by the Zila Shikhiya Sudhar Team Incharge - Surinder Pal Agnihotri, Members - Parmod Bharti, Nirmal Singh, Vinay Kumar and District Mentor( English), Varinder Bangaat the Prize Distribution Function organised recently.
