Muslim community members stage dharna against sacrilege in Nakodar village

NAKODAR: More than one hundred members of Muslim community on Thursday staged a dharna on Mehat Pur by-pass road at Mohalla  Rehmanpura to protest against the police failure to arrest the accused involved in an   incident of sacrilege at  Khan Pur Dhada village    where  the holy Quran and other religious books  were  found burnt at a local mosque on July  6 morning.

Addressing protesters community leaders  said that this act of sacrilege has deeply hurt sentiments of the community and demanded strict action against the culprits and threatened to intensify the stir if the police do not arrest all the accused in this case .   

Superintendent of Police( bureau of investigation) Parmindar Singh Heer reached on the spot and pacified the protestors and invited their representatives to Jalandhar .

The police has arrested  Sarif Mohammad alias Vicky son of Gulzar Mohammad a resident of Khan Pur Dhada village.

A  case under section 295-A(deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feeling of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs ) has been registered in this connection.
