World Population Day: Mansa gets Award for Best Performance in Laparoscopic Female Sterilization in Punjab

ASHA worker from Thoothianwali, ANM from Joga too awarded for working diligently on family planning

MANSA: The health department Mansa has conferred the first award for best performance in laparoscopic female surgery (tubectomy) in Punjab during a function held at Chandigarh on World Population Day on July 11.

Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mr Balbir Singh Sidhu conferred the award to Civil Surgeon Mansa Mr Lal Chand Thakral and the laparoscopic surgeon Dr Hardeep Sharma for conducting around 1100 laparoscopic tubectomy surgeries in the year 2018-19. Last year too surgeon Dr Hardeep Sharma was awarded for carrying out a commendable number of tubectomy surgeries

Besides this one, ASHA worker and one ANM has been honoured for their commendable work in the area of family planning. ASHA worker from Thoothianwali Satpal Kaur has been awarded for motivating the maximum number of women in the district (31 women) for using intrauterine devices for birth control right after delivery. Similarly, ANM from Joga Harpreet Kaur has been awarded for motivating the maximum number of women to undergo tubectomy  (42 women).

Congratulating the team led by Civil Surgeon Mansa Dr Lal Chand Thakral, the Deputy Commissioner Mrs Apneet Riyait stated that proper implementation of family planning program holds great relevance in today's times when the world was facing population explosion and shrinking natural resources. She said that the health department in Mansa has reiterated its commitment towards the work.
