Jal Shakti Abhyian Team concludes three days visit

NAWANSHAHR: High-level central team under Jal Shakti Abhiyan led by Advisor to Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Mr Ram Karan concluded its three-day visit yesterday evening by holding a meeting with district administration Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar to implement the water saving schemes at ground level.

The team comprised of other two members Shefali Dhingra, Director (CEA) and Mr Sandeep Bisht, Deputy Director (CWC) started the third consecutive day visit with the inspection of proposed roof top rain water harvesting structure at Village Sahlon and Aur. Central team also witnessed rejuvenation of pond of village Buhara.

To convert the Jal Shakti Abhiyan to a mass campaign, the team interacted with local representatives of the village.  After that, the team proceeded for inspection of Plantation done by the forest department on Aur to Malla Bedian road and directed the forest department to speed up the proposed project of a plantation of 10000 saplings at village Bharta Khurd. At village Urapar the team applauded the drip irrigation project installed for the conservation of water. Besides, the team inspected the ongoing work of rejuvenation of pond under Seechewal Model and interacted with the local community gathering who reached a site in spite of heavy rain, regarding awareness of Jal Shakti Abhiyan. 

 

Taking part in deliberations during the concluding meeting, ADC (G) Smt. Anupam Kaler assured the team of implementation of ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan’ effectively in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar District. Others present in the meeting included DFO S. Satinder Singh, Horticulture officer Dr. Jagdish Singh, SDO Canal Karanvir Singh, BDPO Aur Rajesh Chadha, Gaurav Sharma SDO water supply and sanitation, S. Joga Singh Works Manager and Gurmukh Singh IT Manager, MGNREGA were present.
