High Court rejects anticipatory bail application of woman travel agent

NAKODAR

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has rejected anticipatory bail application of a woman travel agent.

Justice Arvind  Singh Sangwan said in his order on July 19 that prayer in this petition is for grant of anticipatory bail to the petitioner in FIR No.364 dated 26.10.2017 registered under Sections 406 and 420 IPC at Police Station Nakodar Sadar, Jalandhar (Rural). Counsel for the petitioner has submitted that as per the allegations in the FIR, which was got registered by the complainant – Labh Singh, petitioner along with her husband – Balvir Singh, Sahil and one Sucha Singh had approached the complainant, who wanted his nephew to settle abroad and the complainant handed over an amount of Rs.16, 02,000/- to the accused persons on the pretext of sending his nephew Jatinderpal Singh abroad.

Counsel for the petitioner has further submitted that there are no direct allegations against the petitioner and the allegations are against the husband of the petitioner and one co-accused, who was minor at that time.

Counsel for the State, on instructions from SI Kuldeep Kumar, has submitted that the petitioner has already been declared as proclaimed person on 26.04.2019 and even, Balvir Singh and other accused have also been declared as proclaimed person. In view of the above, considering the allegations levelled against the petitioner and also in view of the fact that the petitioner and the co-accused are evading their arrest and some of them have been declared as proclaimed person, this petition is dismissed.
