Ask officials to remain on high alert

Expresses satisfaction over the ongoing works

BATHINDA: Commissioner of the Faridkot Division Ravinder Kumar Kaushik took stock of the situation after heavy rain in Bathinda on Saturday. Presiding over a meeting of the senior administrative officials, he asked the officers to remain on high alert in view of the prevailing flood like situation in the region. He also interacted with all the officials of different departments involved in helping the public in low lying areas where stagnated water is being drained out.

“Taking care of the people, milch animals and pets is our top priority by draining out the water in coordination with all the department officials who are assigned the task of drying up the low lying areas,” the commissioner said.

He noted down the prevailing situation in the low lying areas where draining out water has become herculean task. “Press every government machinery into service to immediately drain out water from the low lying areas,” he said during the meeting.

Kaushik appreciated the move of the district administration to hand out food packets to the people in slum areas following the heavy rainfall on the first day in city.

He also directed the senior officials to remain in touch with him and keep him informed about the ongoing works related to the draining out of the water in all the urban and rural areas.

During the meeting, the Commissioner was briefed about the works which are done so far in different areas of the district in connection with draining out water.

Deputy Commissioner B. Srinivasan assured the Commissioner of taking all the precautionary steps and informed that the public too has been sensitized about the aftermaths of waterlogging and help is also sought from non-government organisations in this regard.

The Commissioner expressed his satisfaction over the ongoing works to tackle the water fury in Bathinda.
