JALANDHAR: Raksha Bandhan is a festival that celebrates the love and devotion of a brother for his sister. With the changing time, the ways of protecting sisters have changed too. With this approach, CT Group in association with The White Falcon Films (TWFF) and Radio City has taken a unique initiative of marking this bond of protection. The volunteers from CT Group and The White Falcon Films have started a campaign by encouraging people to give the gift of menstrual health, hygiene and dignity to women.

Starting with it, the volunteers have reached out to the ladies living in the slums in Kaazi Mandi and distributed sanitary napkins to around 100 ladies present there and in return, these ladies tied Rakhis to the volunteers. On this occasion, CT Group Maqsudan Campus Director Dr Jasdeep Kaur Dhami and Radio City Programming Director Seema Soni were present and encouraged ladies to speak freely about periods and break the stigma that surrounds it.

Breaking the stereotypes, Siddakpreet S Makkar from The White Falcon Films said, “Rakhi is usually tied to protect sisters from getting in trouble with their parents or the real-life bad guys but this time, we thought of marking this occasion is the Real Raksha way i.e. by providing ladies living in the slums with basic necessities to live a healthy and dignified way as they cannot afford sanitary napkins on daily basis.”

CT Group of Institutions Maqsudan Campus Director Dr Jasdeep Kaur Dhami said, “It’s a very significant initiative taken because without the protection of women, life cannot work in a proper manner and by providing sanitary napkins to ladies who cannot afford is a step taken in the need of the hour. We will continue this campaign after Raksha Bandhan also and will reach to maximum numbers of such ladies and will contribute our bit in making their life healthier and better.”
