Nakodar Police Firing of 1986; High Court adjourns hearing to December 16

NAKODAR The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday adjourned hearing to December 16 on a petition for registering criminal case under Section 302/307/34 IPC against then DM/SSP/SP (Operations)in connection with Nakodar police firing.

A Criminal Petition filed by Baldev Singh of village Littran, District Jallandhar, (presently with dual citizenship of India and Canada) seeking the setting up of a SIT (Special Investigation Team), preferably of CBI, for investigation into killing of four young persons, including Ravinder Singh (son of the petitioner), after registering an FIR under Sections 302/307/34 IPC against then DM (Darbara Singh Guru)/SSP (Mohd Izhar Alam), and SP (Operations) (Ashwani Kumar Sharma, on 4.2.1986,) came up for  hearing on Wednesday  before the HC Bench comprising Justice Mahabir Singh Sindhu.

The court said in its order:” Present; None for the petitioner. SI Satinder Singh; In the interest of justice, adjourned to 16.12.2019”

 The Court on July 22 had said in its order:” Despite the orders dated 08.05.2019 and 11.07.2019, passed by this Court, the relevant material i.e. complete copy of report as well as the decision taken by the Punjab Vidhan Sabha on 05.03.2001 have not been supplied to the petitioner. Notice of motion

On the asking of the Court, Mr. Saurav Khurana, DAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of for respondent Nos.1 to 4. Requisite copies of the petition be supplied to him during the course of the day. He seeks time to have instructions in the matter. Adjourned to 14.08.2019 for affecting the service of remaining respondents as well as for further consideration.”
