Officials and DAPOs Showing Best Performance to Be Honoured on R Day

 Nawanshahr: Setting benchmark in anti drug campaign, Shaheed Bhagat singh Nagar district has led the state by making its 50 villages drug free while more villages are in scrutiny process to get drug free tag.

Divulging the details while unveiling the first list of Drug-Free Villages of district, deputy commissioner, Vinay Bublani said that though the formal announcement had been done on Independence Day but there were some documentation work yet to complete. Now, we have cross checked the documentation as per conditions laid down for drug free tag. The conditions laid down for drug free tag include No FIR under NDPS act against any resident for the last five years besides recovery and sale in present.

The cross verification has gone through three layers, one of administration, second of police and third of GoGs. After meeting all the riders, the villages that qualified for the drug free tag in first phase include Sahlon, Salempur, Sultanpur, Chahad Majara, Chak Illahi Baksh, Tajowal, Mehandipur, Mandhala, Shamspur, Chakli Sujaat, Majara Kalan, Jafarpur, Ramgarh, Mai Ditta, Saidpur Theh, Bahadarpur, Gohlro, Mirpur Lakha and Majhur in Nawanshahr Sub Division.

Similarly Sub Division Banga contains Chak Kalal, Sotran, Jeedowal, Mohalla Muktpura of ward no. 7, Mohalla Gandhi Nagar of Ward of 12, Atari, Bharo Majara, Bahdowal, Burj Kandhari, Chak Monder, Munna, Chak Guru, Makusdpur, Taharpur and Lalpur as drug free villages while Burj Bet, Tej Palana, Sahbazpur, Jitpur, Jhandupur, kulfr, Ballowal Saunkhari, Mansewal, Khivewal, Bir Kathgarh, Fatehpur, Kuhar, Jeowal, Paniali Khurd, Teehra and Ranewal Tapparian of Balachaur Sub Division.

Deputy Commissioner said that Nawanshahr Sub Division have 19 villages with drug free tag while Balachaur and Banga 16 and 15 respectively. We are working on some more villages to make them drug free and will be able to provide them with Drug Free Tag in coming days, he added.

Giving details of anti drug campaign being run in the district, deputy commissioner said that DAPOs, Cluster Coordinators, Nasha Roku Nigran Committees and Buddy groups would be given more push by providing refresher course. As per the latest guidelines, District level Master Trainers would be given refresher course also.

Apart from that seven OOAT centers are providing OPD treatment to the registered drug victims in the district. Similarly, a government sector IPD has also been set up at Sub Divisional Hospital Balachaur for admitting Drug Victims in serious conditions, he added.

In the coming days, efforts would be done to bring the De-addicted youth to the Gym, Play Grounds, Social and Youth Clubs to rehabilitate completely at village level.

To boost the morale of the key players of anti drug campaign,  officials (Civil and Police)/DAPOs would also be recommended to the State Nodal officer, Anti drug Campaign, said the deputy commissioner by adding that the best performers would be felicitated on R day.

Earlier, deputy commissioner also reviewed the outcomes of anti drug campaign with ADC (G) Anupam Kler, SP (H) Harish Dayama, SDMs Dr. Veneet Kumar and Jasbir Singh and Civil Surgeon Dr. R P  Bhatia.
