MP Chaudhary continues inspection of flood affected areas, visits Puwari, Salkiana, Meonwal, Motipur Khalsa.

Phillaur: Continuing the series of visits, Member of Parliament from Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency Santokh Singh Chaudhary along with PPCC General Secretary Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary today spent his entire day in flood affected parts of  (Phillaur)Puwari, Salkiana, Meonwal, Motipur Khalsa and took stock of the situation arose due to release of excess water from Bhakra dam in the river Satluj.

 

After inspecting the damage caused in Village Puwari MP Chaudhary spoke to Water Resources Minister Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria and apprised him of the state of affairs. 

 

The consequent diversion is leading to soil erosion at the banks, putting property and people in the surrounding areas in danger. MP Chaudhary directed the concerned officials present to arrange the required machines and expedite the removal of obstructions in water flow. 

 

Later, accompanied by Food and Civil Supplies Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, MLA Sanjay Talwar,General Secretary, Punjab Congress Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, Jalandhar ADC Jasbir Singh, SDO Drainage Davinder Singh and Municipal Council President Phillaur Narinder Goyal, MP Chaudhary examined the progress of filling of breach in Meonwal village, Phillaur. He expressed satisfaction with progress of the work and directed the officers to increase its pace. 

 

Speaking in Meonwal, MP Chaudhary informed the media that the breach was 380 feet wide leading to quick flow of water into nearby villages and agricultural fields.  Jalandhar administration has worked hard and breach has been almost plugged.

In Village Puwari also, I have directed the officials to complete the work quickly,” he added. In Motipur Khalsa, Congress leaders visited the houses which were submerged under water and met the residents. They assured them that the Government would help them in every possible way.

 

Since the outbreak of floods in various parts of Punjab, MP Chaudhary has been visiting submerged areas of his constituency every day to inspect the circumstances, meet the stranded residents and distribute relief material to them.
