More than 1800 officers/ officials deputed for smooth conduct of Sodal Mela

DC and CP finalize arrangements for the historical Mela which starts today

 JALANDHAR: In order to ensure foolproof security arrangements during the Sri Sidh Baba Sodal Mela the district civil and Police administration has installed a hi-end Jammer at the Temple Complex.

 

The Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today finalized the arrangements for the mela in which lakhs of devotees from across the country were expected to take part.They said that the high frequency jammer would be instrumental in foiling any sort of attempt to disrupt law and order during the mela. They said that the very powerful jammer would be instrumental in maintaining law and order during the mela.

 

 The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police further said that In order to ensure smooth and hassle free conduct of the mela at Sri Sidh Baba Sodal Mandir, the district administration has deployed more than 1800 employees for performing their duty and to facilitate the devotees coming to this mela from across the country. They said that no stone would be left unturned to facilitate the pilgrims paying obeisance at this historical temple. Both the officers said that officers/ officials of the civil and Police administration would be deployed round the clock to help the devotees.

 

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that keeping in view the heavy arrival of the pilgrims in this sacred place elaborate security arrangements have been made. They said that besides deployment of heavy Police force, one company each of Border Security Force and Central Reserve Police force , Quick Response Team, Anti bomb squad, anti sabotage teams Rapid Action Force, Anti Riot Police, Lady Police, CCTV cameras have been installed in and around the temple and mela premises to keep a strict vigil over the visitors. Both the officers said that an ultra modern control room has been set up in Mela premises adding that Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh would be the mela incharge from civil side and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ms. D Sudharvizhi would be overseeing arrangements from the Police side.

 

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that fool proof arrangements have been made for traffic diversion, parking of vehicles, security arrangements and other facilities during the Mela, so that pilgrims do not face any sort of problem. Likewise, they said that Municipal Corporation Jalandhar has been entrusted the task of proper cleanliness of the roads leading to the venue, sprinkling water on roads and ensuring temporary urinal and mobile toilets for the pilgrims coming to pay homage at this holy shrine. Both the officers said that the Health department has been asked to depute Medical teams during the fair along with medicines and Ambulances to facilitate the people.

 

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that PSPCL would be evolving a mechanism for supplying uninterrupted power to the holy Shrine during the Mela days. They said that the Water Supply and Sanitation department was making the arrangements for installing temporary urinals for the devotees. Likewise, both the officers said that the PUNBUS has enhanced the number of buses to ply from Bus Stand to Doaba Chowk on mela day.
