NAKODAR Public works department will start repair of 48 kilometres Kala Sanghian-Nakodar-Nurmahal-Phillaur road worth Rs 2627 lakhs from next month.

Jalandhar construction division executive engineer Balbir Singh informed the Punjabtribune.com that tenders will be opened on September 23 and repair work will start in October. He said that road will be made motor able by laying stone boulders and  first layer of premix carpet will laid and second layer of premix carpet will be next year.

Jalandhar deputy commissioner had submitted estimates of repair of roads from district Jalandhar to Sultan Pur Lodhi in connection with 550th Parkash Utsav celebration of Shiri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

In an official communication to chief principal secretary of the Punjab chief minister deputy commissioner had said that as per directions issued during your visit to district Jalandhar on January 24, the requisite estimates of repair of roads from district are submitted for favour of administrative approval and requisite funds.

Special secretary public works department in an official communication to chief engineer (HQ) public works department (buildings and roads) said that the Punjab Government has given its administrative approval for repairs of various roads in the state including   48 kilometres  Kala Sanghian-Nakodar-Nurmahal-Phillaur road.

Residents of Phillaur and Nakodar sub divisions had repeatedly urged the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amrindar Singh to direct public works department to repair the Nurmahal-Phillaur road which is in a bad condition.

In  communication to chief minister, Dilbag Singh a resident of Baina Pur village had said that the Union and State Government are planning to celebrate 550 birth anniversary of first Sikh Guru Baba Nanak Dev Ji on large scale and have begun preparation for the same.

Communication said that for devotees of Delhi, Haryana, UP, Chandigarh and other states Phillaur-Nakodar route is shortest and easy route to reach Sultan Pur Lodhi to participate in celebration of birthday of Baba Nanak.

It said that presently Phillaur-Nakodar road is non -motor able   as potholes at many places make it difficult to ply for residents. The road connects to different villages and leads to government offices in sub-divisional headquarters and judicial court complexes.

Residents are forced to take detour to reach Phillaur or Nakodar as it is very difficult to drive on this road. It said that this issue has been repeatedly brought into the notice of concerned civil officials and department but on no avail.

Secretary in the Chief Minister Officer has forwarded communication to secretary public works department directing him to take immediate action as per Government rules/policy in the matter.
