Essay writing competitions organized to commemorate 550th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji

Jalandhar: Continuing year-long celebrations to commemorate 550th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the essay writing competitions were organized in various government schools falling in Lohian Kha's block of Shahkot sub-division of the district. 

Divulging the details, District Education Officer (Secondary) Harinder Pal Singh said that the aim of the competition was aimed at perpetuating the life and philosophy of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji amongst our future generations. 

Harinder Pal Singh said that hundreds of students from 8th and 12th classes of the schools took part in the competition and wrote essays about life and teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. 

The District Education Officer said that during the competition, the students were also exhorted to follow Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings in their lives adding that students were also given first, second and third prizes.

He further said that the department would organize many more competitions like painting, declamation and others in coming days to make the students abreast of the teachings and life of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
