Move aimed at saving the time, money and energy of people

Jalandhar: Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today asked the Airport Authority of India and Public Works Department (PWD) to conduct a survey for constructing a four-lane to provide easy and accessible approach to the commuters up to Adampur airport.

Chairing a meeting here at his office with the officers, the Deputy Commissioner said that all our efforts need to be made for providing easy access to the people moving towards the airport. He said that currently from Adampur people have to travel up to around eight kilometres for approaching the airport. However, Sharma said that this could be further reduced to facilitate the passengers.

The Deputy Commissioner said that a four-lane up to Airport from Adampur was the need of the hour. He asked the officers to explore the feasibility of four laning of 1.5 kilometres stretch from Adampur towards Mehtiana along the canal and construction of a 2-kilometre new four-lane road before the Railway crossing on Adampur-Hoshiarpur road. Sharma said that already a bricked road was existing on this proposed road.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the officers to complete the work at the earliest to facilitate the people. He said that this project would act as a catalyst to ensure better air connectivity to the people thereby saving their time, money and energy. Sharma asked the officers to submit the report regarding the survey at the earliest.

On the occasion, Chief Executive Officer of Smart City Jitendra Jorwal, Manager Adampur Airport Kewal Krishan, Joint General Manager  Adampur Airport HG Meena, Executive Engineers BS Tuli and SS Dhariwal, Sub Divisional Officer Vishal and others were also present.
