Anti-larva teams detect 15 cases of dengue larva in city

Jalandhar: The anti-larva cell of the health department on Saturday detected 15 dengue cases in various places of the city during its drive against the vector-borne diseases under Tandarust Punjab Mission.

 Separate teams of anti-larva cell led by Sukhjinder Singh, Pawan Kumar, Raj Kumar, Jaswinder Singh, Gurwinder Singh, Amanpreet, Sher Singh and Pradeep Kumar conducted inspections in Basti Bawa Khel, Baba Deep Singh Nagar, Gobind Nagar, Ganesh Nagar, Bheem Nagar, Sangat Singh Nagar and Old Baradari road.

The teams visited 296 houses covered the population of 1215 and checked 103 desert coolers and 418 waste containers. 

 

Members of teams told the residents that the desert coolers, containers could act as a breeding ground for the mosquitoes to spread diseases like dengue, malaria, and others. They said that the drive was aimed at identifying vulnerable places for producing the larva of mosquitoes.
