Residents of Phillaur and Nakodar sub divisions had repeatedly urged the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amrindar Singh to direct public works department to repair the Nurmahal-Phillaur road which is in a bad condition.

In communication to chief minister, Dilbag Singh a resident of Baina Pur village had said that the Union and State Government are planning to celebrate 550 birth anniversary of first Sikh Guru Baba Nanak Dev Ji on large scale and have begun preparation for the same.

Communication said that for devotees of Delhi, Haryana, UP, Chandigarh and other states Phillaur-Nakodar route is shortest and easy route to reach Sultan Pur Lodhi to participate in celebration of birthday of Baba Nanak.

It said that presently Phillaur-Nakodar road is non -motor able   as potholes at many places make it difficult to ply for residents. The road connects to different villages and leads to government offices in sub-divisional headquarters and judicial court complexes.

Residents are forced to take detour to reach Phillaur or Nakodar as it is very difficult to drive on this road. It said that this issue has been repeatedly brought into the notice of concerned civil officials and department but on no avail.
