Anti-larva team detects 19 larva cases

Jalandhar: As part of its drive against vector-borne diseases in the city, the anti-larva cell of the health department detected 19 dengue larva cases in various areas of the city on Wednesday.

Separate teams of anti-larva cell led by Sanjeev Kumar, Sher Singh, Amanpreet, Rajwinder Singh, Shakti Gopal, Vinod Kumar, Harpreet Pal, Amit Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Jaswinder Singh, Gurwinder Singh, Vijay Kumar, Pardeep Kumar, Bhupinder Kumar, Jagjeet Singh and other conducted the inspection in Gurjeet Nagar Garha, Bhur Mandi, Rainak Bazar, Basti Mithu, Arjun Nagar, Hargobind Nagar, Balmiki Mohalla, Rama Mandi, Baba Budha ji Nagar, Industrial Area, Maqsudan and Saraswati Vihar.

The teams visited 498 houses covered the population of 2230 and checked 136 desert coolers and 597 waste containers. 

The members of teams told the residents that the desert coolers, containers could act as a breeding ground for the mosquitoes to spread diseases like dengue, malaria, and others. They said that the drive was aimed at identifying vulnerable places for producing the larva of mosquitoes.
