JALANDHAR- Cracking down heavily on the illegal colonies in the district, the Jalandhar Development Authority (JDA) today demolished five illegal colonies on the outskirts of the city.

On the directions of Chief Administrator of JDA Jitendra Jorwal, a special team of the civic body razed the illegal colonies in villages Patara, Raipur Rasoolpur, Jandu Singha, Chugawa and Sangal Sohal. On the occasion, a heavy deployment of the Police force was also made.

The Chief Administrator said that mushrooming up of illegal colonies would not be allowed in the district. He said that the JDA was also keeping strict vigil to check the coming up of such colonies.

Jorwal said that as per the directions of the state government, the JDA would take strict action against any such colony or building coming up in its jurisdiction.

The Chief Administrator said that the JDA has already set up a special regulatory authority to take stringent action against violators of law on one hand and strengthening its regulatory wing on the other. He said that a centralized complaint cell has been set up to register and maintain all complaints received telephonically or in writing.

Jorwal said that to ensure that this regulatory body works efficaciously the various officers of the civic body have been assigned specific subdivision.
