Faridkot: Deputy commissioner Faridkot Kumar Sourabh Raj has informed the farmers that the paddy procurement by the government agencies would only continue by November end because seeing the declineing trend of arrival of paddy in the grain markets of the state, the state civil and supplies minister Bhart Bhusan Ashu has ordered the concerned authorities to stop procurement of paddy by November 30.

“Earlier it was fixed that paddy procurement would continue from October 1 to December 15, but as there is hardly any arrival of paddy in the grain markets, the procurement has been decided to be closed by November end. If any farmers are still left to bring their produce to the markets, he is advised to bring it before that date  so that he can get the minimum support price.”

But he added that there would be no change of milling season of paddy and government of India has approved this rescheduling of procurement only.

He said that in the district,598070 MT of paddy has been procured in the district by government agencies while private millers have 25462 MT paddy has been procured. The lifting has been done in 72 hours and about Rs 1011.69 crore has been paid to the farmers for their crop.
