National integration camp to start in LKC from today

300 youths of 13 states to participate in camp

DC exhorts officers to be brand ambassadors of Punjab during camp

 

 JALANDHAR- To promote harmony among the youths of 13 various states of the country through the exchange of the rich culture, heritage, customs, traditions and language, a National Integration Camp will begin today (Tuesday) at Lyallpur Khalsa College (LKC).

 

The camp is being organized by the ministry of youth affair and sports.

 

Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said that a total of 300 youths from 13 states including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Haryana, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab and Delhi will participate in the camp. 

 

Sharma said that the youths of 13 states will showcase their own culture in the camp through stalls, folk songs or dances, traditional dresses and a walk during five-day camp in LKC. 

 

The Deputy Commissioner said that seminars by resource persons will also be given to detail the youths about Punjab and its history, culture and heritage. 

 

He said that the youths will also be taken to prominent places of the city and state including Golden Temple, Jalliawalan Bagh and others. 

 

Sharma added that the main objective of the camp is to bring the youths of these states together to promote unity among them and a chance to understand the rich culture, heritage, customs, traditions and language of each other. 

 

The Deputy Commissioner assured that the district administration would ensure foolproof arrangements for National Integration Camp. 

 

He also directed the various departments including police, health and MC to leave no stone unturned to make the event huge success in Jalandhar.
