Garbage dump site near Govt School endangers students

Garbage dump site selected by the Bilga Nagar Panchayat(NP) in front of the Government primary school (girls) here is posing serious health hazards to the students .

Garbage is segregated regularly and dry garbage is burnt.

“The situation has worsened and foul smell emanates from the rotting garbage and smoke from the burning garbage is entering school premises and it has become difficult to breath” students said.

The school authorities have taken this issue to the notice the officials in local administration.

The school principal in an official communication to the executive officer of nagar panchayat said that your office has established garbage dump in front of school and plastic waste is burnt and it’s poisonous smoke enter school premises making difficult to breath. She said that parents have brought this issue to her notice. She has asked to shift this garbage site immediately.   

Bilga residents have urged the district administration to initiate stern action against Bilga nagar panchayat for dumping garbage near the school.

Social activist and journalist Rajindar Singh in a representation to Jalandhar deputy commissioner said that garbage dumping site in front of the Government school is violation of human rights of students and should be removed immediately.
