Fifteen booked for obstructing public way

NAKODAR The Nakodar sadar police have booked fifteen persons on the charge of obstructing public way.

Station house officer(SHO) Sikandar Singh Virk  said that alleged accused have been identified as Mohammad Akhtar,Abdul Gani,Jawat Mohammad,Afjal,Mohammad Sarkool  residents of Mudh village ,Ali Mohammad and Noor Mohammad  residents of Sighan village ,Mohammad Junas a resident of Sabji Mandi, Jalandhar ,Paramjit a resident of Boparai Kalan village Rakesh Kumar a resident of Gohior village Mohammad Suraj a resident of Nagal Jiwan village and their three unidentified accomplices .

SHO said that the accused along with 100 other people staged a dharna near Mudh village on Nakodar –Jalandhar road on December 4 and blocked traffic. He said that the police told them not to stage dharna and not to obstruct traffic but they refused and continued dharna and obstructed people’s movement.

SHO said that a case under sections ,283(obstruction in public way)and 149(unlawful assembly)  of the Indian Penal Code and section 8(B) of the National Highways Act has been registered against the accused and further investigations have been handed over to assistant  sub- inspector Janak Raj .
