Ludhiana: CT University (CTU) ‘Performing Arts’ students scripted and presented a Nukkad Natak based on crime against women. The play highlighted the issues of female foeticide, acid attack, domestic violence, rape, molestation and harassment. The play left many with teary eyes.

Giving a tribute to a young veterinarian doctor of Hyderabad, who was raped and then burnt alive, students and faculty also gathered for a candle march and presented posters displaying quotes painted by students.

Udhaydeep Singh, a second year student of BCA Honours, presented an emotional note saying, “Every religion holds a belief that women must be respected as they are the ones who run society. To acknowledge a girl’s worth is our core task and we all must do that.”

Meanwhile, addressing the students, Dr Harsh Sadawarti, Vice Chancellor CTU, said, “A change is required. Change, that effects the human’s logical thinking has to be flipped to a positive side. Here, only education won’t help; a person’s own self being has to be humane. Safeguarding women is important, but first comes is the respect that we ought to give to the female section of society.”
