JALANDHAR: Star cricketer Harbhajan Singh and film star Sonu Sood may initiate their political inning soon with joining of Congress.

Off-Spinner Harbhajan Singh, popularly known as ‘Bhajji’ is out of Indian team and now days in looking after his newly born ‘baby’, may join congress in the days to come.

Sources close to Bhajji did not rule of cricketer’s joining Congress but said that it is too early to say, when actual joining will take place.

However, Bhajji in his tweet today said "have no intentions of joining politics any time soon. Pleasestop spreading rumors".

It is learnt that Bhajji is in touch with his senior cricketer and former MP Navjot Sidhu and it would be Sidhu who would chalk out the political designs for Bhajji.  Sources said Bhajji may be fielded by Congress to contest Amritsar Lok Sabha seat, where by-elections are expected to be held along with Assembly Polls in February 2017.

The seat fell vacant after the resignation of PPCC Chief Captain Amarinder Singh, who resigned in protest against the opinion of SYL-Canal issue by the Apex court, which went in favour of the adjoining state of Haryana.

Meanwhile sources said that film star Sonu Sood may also try his luck in the politics and may be fielded from Moga assembly segment. Sood also met PPCC Chief Captain Amarinder Singh recently and expressed his desire to join politics.

Sood hails from the Moga and interested to contest assembly from the constituency, sources said adding that for Congress also there would not be much problem in fielding Sood from Moga, because other prominent leaders of Congress from Moga have already switched their loyalty towards SAD and one of the other prominent leader joined former MP Jagmeet Brar’s Trinamool Congress.
