Corona curfew; DC reviews situation at Nakodar

NAKODAR Jalandhar deputy commissioner V.K.Sharma on Wednesday reached Nakodar and chaired a meeting of administrative officials of Nakodar, Shahkot and Phillaur subdivisions and citizens and reviewed the current situation in view of the ongoing curfew.

He told officials that for the supply of essentials to citizens the government has issued curfew passes to grocery shopkeepers, milk suppliers and chemists in towns who will collect orders on phones from people and will send their employees with ordered supplies to their houses. He said that volunteers are being appointed in the rural areas for the supply of essentials to villages.

Sharma said that he has asked the police department to ensure that vehicles supplying food, milk, newspapers and LPG cylinders remain unaffected under the imposed curfew. He said that Verka Milk Plant and Mandi Department have been asked to ensure the distribution of milk and vegetables to vendors.

He told officials that potato growers should be allowed to harvest their crops and people should not be allowed to assemble in villages.  

Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police N.S Mahal told police officers that cancer and dialysis patients and delivery cases should be allowed to go after checking passes issued by SDM’s.

Shahkot MLA Hardev Singh Sherowalia said that people are whole heartily supporting administration in the war against deadly coronavirus.
