20 persons nabbed by commissionerate police after detects them violating curfew norms

Hi-end technology being used to keep a tab in hotspots and vulnerable areas during curfew

 Jalandhar: Within 24 hours after the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) was pressed into service for enhancing surveillance in the jurisdiction of the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police 20 persons were nabbed for violating the curfew norms.

Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that the ultra modern technology was being used for keeping an eagle eye over the hotspots and vulnerable areas of the district. He said that during the operation of UAV the Commissionerate Police had identified some people violating the curfew norms. Bhullar said that subsequently 12 FIRs were registered by the Commissionerate Police against 20 persons who were arrested for flouting the norms.

The Commissioner of Police said that these persons who were booked by Commisisonerate Police following interception by UAV include Mahavir Gupta r/o Maqsoodan, Mithlesh Tangri r/o Toor Enclave, Akhilesh Kumar r/ New Guru Nanak Nagar, Vinod Kumar r/ o Shiv Nagar, Gurdial Singh r/o Kot Baba Deep Singh Nagar, Mangal Singh r/o Kot Baba Deep Singh Nagar, Mani r/o Basti Gujan, Dev Rao r/o Sidaarth Nagar, Raj Bahadur r/o Bank Colony, Dharminder Singh r/o Khurla Kingra, Sunny r/o Village Folriwal, Stephen r/o village Folriwal, Birbal r/o Sofi Pind, Ashish, Chandan, Vijay Kumar, Rajnish Tiwari r/o New Defence Colony, Sarabjit Singh r/o Lasuri Mohalla, Harpreet Singh r/o village Padhiana and Davinder Singh r/o New Dashmesh Nagar.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police, who examined the working of UAVs at Model Town market, said that the move was aimed at ensuring strict compliance of curfew. They said that the curfew has been imposed for the betterment of people so that the spread of Covid 19 could be checked effectively. The officers said that every effort was being made to check the spread of this pandemic adding that these UAVs could cover the area of 2 kilometres in all directions and could go up to height of 200 metres.

On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Harpreet Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police Balwinder Iqbal Singh Kahlon and others were also present.
