A mobile phone could be a possible carrier of the Virus, as per the advisory of the state government.

“Corona virus is spread mostly by inhalation through saliva particles during sneezing and coughing, by coming in contact with the infected person and by touching the infected objects. It survives for different periods of time on the surface of things, but is easily destroyed by chemical disinfectants. Therefore, with accurate and timely information, the corona virus epidemic can be prevented,” said Dr Hari Narayan Singh, civil surgeon Muktsar.

He said that besides mobile phones, reception counters, table top surfaces, door handles, toilets, keyboards, mouse of computers and tablets are the most touching objects.

He said that mobile phones could be a possible cause of the spread of the virus which comes in direct contact with the face and mouth of the person using it, even if the hands are washed and cleaned regularly but it could be a possible source of infection.

The advisory said that if there is an urgent need to communicate on a mobile phone, then hands should be washed regularly with soap and water or sanitized with a sanitizer containing 70% isopropyl alcohol. Avoid placing the mobile phone on another surface. It is advisable to use a headphone-headset (wired, wireless) to prevent direct contact between the mobile phone and your face. If possible, use a mobile phone speaker on the phone and do not share your mobile set with anyone else.

Turn off the phone before cleaning the mobile phone and if there are any covers, luggage and wires with it.
