Government spends Rs 4.46 crore on 'Shramik Special Trains' for safe and convenient travel of 79800 migrants to their native states

One more Shramik special train left for Hazipur

 

JALANDHAR:- Continue to ensure the safe and convenient travel of the migrants to their native states from Jalandhar, the state government has so far spent Rs 4.46 crore on 'Shramik Special Trains' which facilitated more than free travel of 79800 migrants so far to their native states.

The 66th such train chugged off from city to Hazipur in Bihar at 11.20 am today. The train carried 1600 migrants from the district who were stranded here during the lockdown period.

The state government on Saturday spent Rs 9.52 lakh for the free travel of migrants to Hazipur for free travel of the labourers.

The state government has spent a total amount of Rs 4.46 crore to ferry more than 79,800 migrants free of cost from the district to their respective states.

These migrants were ferried in the state owned buses to the city Railway station where proper health screening of the migrants was done by the Medical and para medical staff. Before boarding to the trains the migrants were provided free food, water, sleepers and other things of their need which were required during the travel.

The district administration led by Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Senior Superintendent of Police Navjot Singh Mahal has already made elaborate arrangements for free travel of the migrants. The trains were being moved from the city station under the supervision of Additional Commissioner Municipal Corporation Ms. Babita Kler and Deputy Commissioner of Police Balkar Singh.
