Demands strong action against the management and owners of the company

Asks to remove the product from the market immediately

JALANDHAR: Taking serious note of the misuse of Guru Ravidas ji’s image on a tobacco product by a company based in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, Member of Parliament Santokh Singh Chaudhary has written a letter to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath demanding a strong action against the management and owners of the company, and removal of the said product from the market immediately.

Strongly condemning the act of putting the photo on a tobacco product, the senior Congress leader said that Guru Ravidas ji is a revered guru to millions of followers in Punjab and other parts of the world and misusing his image is an affront to the sentiments of devotees.

“My own Parliamentary constituency Jalandhar has a large number of devotees. The use of his image on a tobacco product is a highly condemnable act and a deliberate action taken to hurt the feelings of the followers,” he wrote in the letter.

Chaudhary Santokh Singh further stated that he had received numerous representations, messages and calls requesting strict action in the matter.

He demanded that the people responsible for such a reprehensible act should apologize to the hurt devotees and an example should be set by the government so that such a thing is never repeated again.
