Farmer arrested for burning wheat stubble

The Bilga police on Wednesday arrested a farmer on the charge of violating the deputy commissioner’s order against stubble burning, causing air pollution and degrading the soil quality.

Station House Officer (IO) Surjit Singh Padda said that the accused has been identified as Baljit Singh son of Kuldip Singh   a resident of Rajowal village.

SHO said that the police have received information that harvested wheat fields were on fire at Umarpura –Talwan road and reached on the spot but the alleged accused could not give satisfactory answer why he set afire his fields despite the ban.

SHO said that cases under section 188(disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) has been registered against the accused that was released on bail.
