CP leads Cops from front to intensify drive against violations of norms by not wearing the masks

441 FIRs registered so far, 1695 challans and fine worth Rs 3.39 lakh collected from people without masks

 JALANDHAR: With the Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar himself leading from the front, to nail the perpetrators who were putting the life of the people in peril due to the Corona Virus pandemic, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police today further intensified its drive against the people violating the norms by not wearing the masks as.  

The Commissioner of Police, who himself monitored the drive in the entire city, said that since imposition of Curfew/Lockdown 981 FIRs have been registered against the violators which include 441 without masks. He said that the Police has arrested 1216 people for violation of curfew/ lockdown. Bhullar further said that so far 26,264 traffic challans have been issued to the violators and 1831 vehicles have been impounded.

The Commissioner of Police, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner of Police Balkar Singh, further said that the Police have issued 1695 without mask challans and collected a fine worth Rs 3.39 lakh so far. He said that a fine of Rs 1000 has been imposed so far for violation of home quarantine instructions adding that 178 persons have been fined Rs 17,800 for spitting in public place. Likewise Bhullar said that on Friday 323 traffic challans were issued and 11 vehicles were impounded.  

The Commissioner of Police said that 187 persons without mask were challaned and imposed a fine of Rs 37,400 adding that seven persons were imposed a fine of Rs 700 for spitting at public place. He said that as per the latest directions of the state government anyone found without a mask would be charges with a fine of Rs 500, anyone violating home quarantine would be imposed fine worth Rs 2000, anyone found spitting at public place would be imposed fine worth Rs 500, for violation of social distancing by owners shops and malls Rs 2,000 fine would be imposed, buses violating social distancing would be imposed fine of Rs 3000, cars owners violating social distancing would be imposed fine of Rs 2,000 and auto rickshaw, two wheelers owners violating social distancing would be imposed fine of Rs 500.
