Villager booked for rape, assault

SHAHKOT The Shahkot police have booked a villager on the charge of rape and assault.

The investigating officer (IO)Amandeep Kaur said that the accused has been identified as Jony son of Kulbir a resident of Said Pur Jhiri village.

The victim complained to the police that the accused assaulted her in a street of Shahkot town and forcibly took her into an open plot and raped her.

IO said that a case under sections 376(rape) and 323(voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC has been registered against the accused. No arrest has been made and raids are being conducted to nab the absconding accused.
