Killing of 40 days old infant; No arrests even after five months

NAKODAR The Mehat Pur police have failed to arrest any accused charged with killing a 40 days old infant even after five months of the crime.

Yakub son of Des Raj a resident of Baghela village had complained to the police that the accused started shouting in front of his house on January 2 night and the gate was locked. He said that the accused started throwing bricks in his house and one brick hit his 40 days old son Joban Sahota who was in the lap of his mother Harprit Kaur adding that brick hit proved fatal that killed his son.

Investigating officer (IO) Balwindar Singh said that a case under sections 302(murder) ,506(criminal intimidation) and 148 and 149(rioting ) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against Navpreet alias Navi,his brother Niraj,Gurprit alias Upo,Harprit alias Haru,Jasbir alias Sukha,Manidar alias Bindra,Kuldip alias Manni all residents of Baghela village and Manna a resident of Pandwan village in Jalandhar and their three unidentified accomplices.

When contacted Station House Officer Lakhvir Singh said that post mortem report of the deceased is still pending and investigations are closed.
