Brings down pendency of applications in Sewa Kendra to 0.1 percent

JALANDHAR: Ensuring efficient and expeditious delivery of Citizen-Centric Services in a transparent manner, the District Administration has bagged the first position for providing public services within a stipulated timeframe in the state.

According to Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, the concerted efforts of the District Administration has brought down the pendency rate to 0.1 percent in Sewa Kendras, which is lowest among 22 districts of Punjab.

He said that earlier, Sangrur was leading in the state with the lowest pendency in Punjab.

Appreciating the efforts of the Jalandhar team, Thori said that it was a matter of great satisfaction that the Jalandhar team has taken just one -month for achieving the target of lowest pendency in Punjab whereas in Sangrur, the staff reached on this mark in three-months.

He said that this target had been achieved with constant monitoring of the functioning of Sewa Kendras and hard work of the team.

Mr. Thori said that the Sewa Kendras in the district received as many as 2,75,110 applications till date since January 1, 2020 to till date of which 2,69,103 had been approved while 3857 were sent back due to inappropriate information whereas 1211 were in process with pendency of only 279 applications.

A weekly review of the functioning and performance of Sewa Kendras has been initiated vis-a-vis speedy delivery of services to facilitate the general public, which leads to this achievement, he added. Strict instructions have been given to the officials of Sewa Kendras to ensure the time-bound delivery after receiving the application for different services without any inconvenience to the people.

The Deputy Commissioner categorically said that the sole motive of the opening of Sewa Kendras by the State Government was to facilitate the people with more than 200 citizen services under one roof and any sort of laxity in delivery of said services would not be tolerated at any cost.

DC said that zero-tolerance policy is being adopted against any sort of inordinate delay by the Sewa Kendras and stern action would be taken against the management of Sewa Kendras if found negligent.

The Sub Divisional Magistrates have also been tasked to carry out inspections in Sewa Kendras to take stock of the functioning of these centres in larger public interests, said Thori.
