Gathering at oath taking ceremony: FIR lodged for not following norms

People fail to maintain social distancing, wear masks during oath taking of Chairman and Vice Chairman of Market Committee at Gidderbaha

 Muktsar: Muktsar police have lodged an FIR for not wearing masks and maintaining social distancing during the oath taking ceremony of the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Gidderbaha Market Committee.

An FIR under sections 188, 269, 271 of the IPC and section 3 of the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 has been registered against the unidentified persons on the complaint of Jagmohan Singh Special Duty Magistrate. The complainant is supposed to keep a close vigil over such violations between ward number 1 to 5 in Gidderbaha city.

Deputy Commissioner M. K. Aravinda Kumar also issued a show cause notice to concerned DSP and SDM Gidderbaha for not taking swift action in this regard. The case was registered following news reports circulated in this connection over social media and other platforms.  

Deputy Commissioner said that in view of the spreading Covid-19 pandemic there is zero tolerance for illegal gatherings at all public places.
