Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan firing incidents happened on October 14, 2015.

Faridkot: A court of Faridkot on Wednesday denied the bail to then SHO Kotkapura Gurdeep Singh Pandher after the Special Investigation Team probing the case told the court that Pandher has also been named as accused for criminal conspiracy in the Behbal Kalan case also besides tampering with record at police station Kotkapura in which he was arrested by the SIT, led by its member Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh earlier and was in jail.

Pandher is currently in judicial custody and has filed an application in the Faridkot court seeking bail in the case.

The sources said that SIT had named him in the Behbal Kalan firing case, in which two Sikh protesters were killed, finding his link with the incidents for criminal conspiracy, it has been learnt.

Then DSP Kotkapura, Baljeet Singh Sidhu had also moved the Faridkot court seeking anticipatory bail in the case which was also rejected by the court.

Baljeet Singh had filed his bail application apprehending his arrest in the case.

It is pertinent to mention that then Moga SSP Charanjeet Singh Sharma, SP Bikramjeet Singh, inspector Pradeep Singh and then SHO Bajakhana Amarjeet Singh Kular were named as accused in the Behbal Kalan firing incident on the findings of Justice Ranjit Singh commission.

Now Gurdeep Singh Pandher has been named as the fifth accused in the case.

The police officials had allegedly  held a meeting in Kotkapura after the force dispersed the protesters from main chowak of Kotkapura and then left for Behbal Kalan village located near Kotkpaura –Bathinda road where two persons, Gurjeet Singh and Krishan Bhagwan Singh were killed in alleged police firing.

The SIT, byy arresting Sohail Singh and Pankaj Goyal of PanKaj motors deflated the police theory that the police had fired on the protesters in self defence after it was fired first on the escort Gypsy of the police.
