Need to bring mental health issues to the foreground: Director (North-West Region), Ministry of I&B

Webinar on Mental Health & Enhancing Immunity in times of COVID-19 organized today

 CHANDIGARH: There is a need to bring mental health issues to the forefront and make them accepted as common ailments which are amenable to treatment, said Ashish Goyal, Director (North-West Region), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India. While welcoming the participants in a webinar, Goyal also highlighted various initiatives taken by the Government of India to address issues related to mental health and enhancing immunity in times of COVID-19. A webinar on “Mental Health & Enhancing Immunity in times of COVID-19” was organized today by Press Information Bureau and Regional Outreach Bureau, Chandigarh, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India.

 

Dr. Arun Bharadwaj, a motivational speaker, said physical fitness and mental fitness are basic foundations of living a happy life. The guest speaker also added that amicable relationship, purposeful life and stress management are the most important determinants of a good mental health. Stressing on the need for including mental health in school curriculum, he said the youth should be encouraged to use their creative potential. 

 

 

Another guest speaker, Dr Rakesh Sharma, Director Ayurveda, Punjab informed the participants about basic ayurvedic remedies to enhance their immunity level especially in times of COVID-19. He also highlighted the importance of Yoga and Pranayam in stress management and thereby boosting immunity.

Rajesh Bali, Field Publicity Officer, FOB Jalandhar moderated the webinar. The session concluded with Anuj Chandak, Deputy Director, Regional Outreach Bureau, Chandigarh presenting a vote of thanks to all the participants. Students and faculty members from Jalandhar-based Hansraj Mahila Mahavidyalaya (HMV), APJ College of Fine Arts, Kanya Mahavidyalaya (KMV) and other officials of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting from the region participated in the webinar.
