Bharat Bhushan Ashu kickstarts development projects worth Rs. 149.21 crore under smart village campaign phase-ii

Says, 106 villages of all eleven blocks to witness holistic development with commencement of 3201 works in second phase

Thapar model ponds, sewage systems, playgrounds, new panchayat ghars, solid waste management, lighting, road infrastructure, and many more development aspects to be covered under svc scheme

 

 JALANDHAR- Fulfilling its commitment to usher new era of infrastructure development  in rural areas across district under smart village campaign phase-II,

Food and Civil Supplies Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu on Saturday kick-started 3201 development projects worth Rs. 149.21 Crore in Jalandhar' 106 villages.

Participating in a video conference held at local district administrative complex to mark the virtual opening ceremony of smart village campaign phase-2 by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, The minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu accompanied by MLAs Pargat Singh, Rajinder Beri, Sushil Kumar Rinku, Avtar Singh Junior Bawa Henry, Mayor Jagdish Raj Raja, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, said that these projects would act as catalyst to ensure holistic development of rural areas.

 

Divulging more, the minister said that during the first phase of this scheme, the Chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh led state government had incurred worth Rs. 41.46 Crore by ensuring development projects in 96 villages of the Jalandhar, however, in second phase as many as 3201 development projects including up-gradation of road infrastructure, street light systems, lying of new sewage lines, setting up of Thapar model ponds, interlocking tiles, sheds in cremation grounds, solid waste management, disposal of sewage waste, construction of Panchayat Ghars, new playgrounds, community centre, and many more to be initiated soon. He added that with an outlay of Rs. 2774 Crore, the SVC aimed at proving cities like infrastructure to the rural areas so that people living in villages don't look upon cities for such facilities.

Ashu further added that eight villages of Jalandhar East block have been selected for the second phase, followed by nine villages in Bhogpur block, nine in Mehatpur, nine in Noormahal, nine in Phillaur, 10 in Nakodar, 10 in Lohian, 10 in Jalandhar west, 10 in Rurkan Jalan, 11 in Adampur, and 11villages in Shahkot blocks.

Giving more information, the minister said that a sum of worth Rs. 14.67 Crore would be spent at development projects in Jalandhar east block. Similarly, Rs. 25.26 Crore to be spent in Jalandhar west, Rs. 12.85 in Adampur, Rs. 13.26 in Bhogpur, Rs. 16.90 in Nakodar, Rs. 18.56 in Phillaur, Rs. 10.76 in Shahkot, Rs. 10.23 in Noormahal, Rs. 8.32 in Rurkan Kalan, Rs. 10.55 in Lohain, and Rs. 78.05 Crore would be spent in Mehatpur block.

 

 

Meanwhile, Manko village Sarpanch Kamlesh Rani who spoke in Video Conference with Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi lauded the smart village scheme for all-around development of her village and thanked the government for ensuring better road network, sewage and street lighting facilities in the village with the grants worth Rs 35 lakh.

The opening ceremony was held simultaneously in 66 locations of the district in which a large number of Sarpanches and Panches took part through video conference. The participation of Panchayats was observed as a step to enable and empower them to ensure the complete facelift of their villages.

On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal, SDM Dr Jai Inder Singh, Deputy CEO Zila Parishad Dharam Pal, DFSC Narinder Singh, Congress leaders Sukhwinder Singh Lalli, Rajinder Pal Singh Rana Randhawa, Honey Joshi and others were present.
