Smart Village Campaign transforming Punjab’s villages: MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary

964 projects completed at a cost of about Rs 44.77 crore in Jalandhar in SVC phase I
 
Rs 149.21 crore allocated for 3201 works in SVC phase II in Jalandhar
 
RURKA KALAN/JALANDHAR: Member of Parliament Santokh Singh Chaudhary on Saturday laid foundation stones of projects worth Rs 88.49 lakhs in six villages of block Rurka Kalan as Punjab Government launched second phase of Smart Village Campaign (SVC) in the state. 
 
The works initiated in villages Ghurka, Dhesian Kahna, Bir Bansian, Sang Dhesian, Mehsampur and Bundala include construction of streets, drainage systems and a stadium. 
 
Under Smart Village Campaign’s phase – II, the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government has allocated Rs 2,774 crore for 48,910 works in about 13,000 villages of the state. In district Jalandhar, an amount of Rs 149.21 crore has been budgeted for completion of 3201 works. 
 
MP Chaudhary informed that under the first phase of SVC, 964 projects had been completed at a cost of about Rs 44.77 crore.
 
He said that the Congress government is intensely focused on boosting infrastructure and amenities in rural areas of Punjab and SVC would completely transform our villages, adding that the scheme is enhancing quality of life and living standards of people. He thanked Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for the transformative SVC scheme and also thanked Rahul Gandhi for launching its second phase.
 
SDM Phillaur Dr Vineet Kumar, Rurka Kalan Block Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Harjinder Kaur, BDPO Rurka Kalan Rampal Rana, Block Panchayat Samiti Member Tarsem Kumar, Bundala Sarpanch Azad Kumar, Jassa Bundala, Balwinder Singh, Sang Dhesian Sarpanch Jeeta, Ghurka Sarpanch Ram Lal, Memsampur Sarpanch Sarbjeet Kaur and Makhan Surja were among those present on the occasion.
