Delhi-Katra Expressway – Administration issues 3D notification for acquiring 1485-acre in Nakodar, Phillaur and Jalandhar-II Sub Divisions

 Jalandhar- Further moving closer to execution of much-awaited Delhi-Katra Expressway, the district administration has issued 3D notification for acquiring 1485-acre in Phillaur, Nakodar and Jalandhar-II Sub Divisions of district.

The Delhi-Katra Expressway will have around 68.KM length in Jalandhar consisting 29 KMs in Phillaur and Jalandhar-II and 10.09KM in Nakodar for which around 1485 acre land would be acquired.

Out of total 1485 acre land to be taken under possession, 435-acre land falls in Phillaur, 237-acre in Nakodar and 813-acre would be acquired in Jalandhar-II sub divisions.

Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that officials have now started the task of fixing the compensation award for the acquired land so that notification under 3(G) for award distribution could be issued at the earliest. He said that 3(D) notification is issued when the entire details of land to be acquired such as area, name of landowners, etc., are published after completing the survey.

Deputy Commissioner said due to expressway, there would be limited number of access points to travel on it and Jalandhar will have only two access points including one in Kang Sabu village, Nakodar and second from Kartarpur area.

He said that National Highway Authority of India is likely to invite the tenders for the project in next month. He said that as speed limit for vehicles has been fixed at 120 km per hour on expressways and it would ensure hassle-free and smooth journey to the commuters. He said that the travelling time from Jalandhar to Katra would reduce to just 2.20 hours from 5-hours currently.

NHAI Manager Prashant Kumar said the project in Jalandhar is expected to cost around Rs 1870 crore including the cost of land acquisition and civil works. He added that the work in Jalandhar on this stretch is expected to be started in February 2021 and would be completed in two-years.
