DC orders officials to carry out to inspections to check imported fireworks

Jalandhar: Amid the ban on imported or foreign origin crackers, the Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori has ordered the officials to start inspections in their areas to keep vigil on the sale/storage of imported firecrackers and ensure prevention of such crackers in their jurisdictions.

Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner said that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has put a blanket ban on the imported fireworks/crackers in the country and there have been reports about the sale/storage/of imported fireworks in the country.

He said that special teams are being constituted in the district to conduct inspections at the storage and selling points in the district to ensure the implementation of these orders.

He asked the concerned departments/officials to keep round the clock vigil over the storage and sale of imported firecrackers and ensure preventive measures.

The Deputy Commissioner further mentioned that strict action would be taken against the persons involved in the sale of these banned firecrackers.

The Deputy Commissioner solicited support from the NGOs to carry out awareness drive in their respective areas to sensitize people to not to use imported firecrackers.
