Travel agent arrested for duping Shahkot village resident of Rs 1.25 lakh

SHAHKOT The Shahkot police have arrested a travel agent for duping a Shahkot village resident of Rs.1.25 lakh on the pretext of sending him abroad.

Investigating officer (IO) and Talwandi Sanghera police post-in-charge Bhupindar Singh said that the accused has been identified as Kulwindar Singh alias Baba a resident of Khukhrainn village in Kapurthala .

The investigating officer said that Gurdev Ram a resident of Akbar Pur Kalan  village had complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that he paid Rs 1.25 lakh to the accused for facilitating his migration abroad but he was not sent abroad not returned the money.

 IO said that a case under section 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused that has been released as the Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted him interim bail.
