Central University of Punjab organized Webinar on The Journey of Development of Geometry

Bathinda: Under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Central University of Punjab organized an invited talk on the “The Journey of Development of Geometry”. This Keynote Speaker of this programme was Prof. Paras Nath Pandey, Former Vice- Chancellor, Nehru Gram Bharati University, Prayagraj and former Professor and Head Department of Mathematics, University of Allahabad, Prayagraj (U.P.).

The Keynote speaker, Prof. P.N. Pandey mentioned that Geometry has many practical uses in everyday life such as measuring the circumference and the volume while building or creating something. He also mentioned that Geometry is also applied to almost all the underlying concepts of Technology like Robotics, computers, video games etc. He talked about the growth of Geometry from Ancient to Modern Era in a very fascinating way that made the audience engaged throughout the talk. His inspires the students to think deeply about the importance of Geometry and works of great mathematicians in this field.

The programme commenced with the welcome address by Prof. Gauree Shanker, Head of the Department where he introduced the programme theme. After this, Dr. Ashok Kumar Pathak introduced the keynote speaker to the participants. Towards the end, Dr. Sachin Kumar presented the formal vote of thanks. Faculty, staff and students of the University attended this programme online.
